Scuba Education Experiences, LLC is a sole proprietorship owned by Dan Wood. After earning a BS in Biology at the University of Toledo and a MS in Zoology working with the Archie Carr Center for Sea Turtle Research at the University of Florida, Wood taught at a bilingual school on the island of Roatan during the 1998 to 1999 school year. He interned at the Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences (RIMS) for three summers starting in 2000, the same year he started teaching at an independent school in Cincinnati. In 2001, Wood began bringing students to RIMS for marine biology camp. Since 2001, Wood returned to the island of Roatan nearly every year to dive with students and share his love of the reef and island.
Lisa Wood, PhD
Dr. Lisa S. Wood is an associate working with Scuba Education Experiences, LLC. Dr. Wood is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Science at the University of Arkansas and brings an expertise in terrestrial ecosystem assessment, plant and environmental restoration, and service learning. She actively works with undergraduate honors students conducting scientific research for their honors theses. Dr. Wood hopes to expand the Scuba Education Experiences summer program to include study abroad/ international experiences for college students and promote the Roatan environment as an ideal setting for conducting undergraduate research and participating in the RIMS internships.
